Road Side Stop: Carriage Rides in Cheyenne

Usually my Road Side Stop posts are weird things on the side of the road, but I couldn’t decide where else to put this one.  After we visited the Wyoming State Capitol and the gift shop down the road, we came across a carriage tour of downtown Cheyenne.  Sadly, the driver was just getting ready to quit for the day, but he generously offered the kids a ride anyway.  We had the whole carriage to ourselves.

The driver gave us about a 30 minute tour of the area around the capitol, including where the old railroad depot and some cattle lots were.  I honestly don’t remember much of the tour, but it was a nice way to see a little bit of the city.  Once again, I was really amazed at how small Cheyenne was.

After our ride, the driver gave the kids a chance to pet the horse for a while while he cooled down a bit.  Being animal lovers, they loved this more than the ride itself!

That was the end of our time in Cheyenne.  We actually saw a fair amount of the city thanks to the impromptu tour.  Now it was time to hit the road and head toward Colorado.
