After spending the early afternoon in World Showcase, we headed back to the Land Pavilion for our scheduled Behind the Seeds Tour. The tour meets downstairs near the entrance to Soarin’. You do need reservations, but they can typically be made day of.
If you have a chance to do this tour and are at all remotely interested in agriculture, then I highly recommend it. I’m not going to give a lot of details, because I don’t want to ruin it for you. But it is definitely worth checking out.
The tour was led by a professional intern in the greenhouses. She knew a ton of information and was great at pointing out unique features. We started out in the entomology area followed by a peak into the biotechnology area.
From there, we went into the greenhouses that you see from the Living with the Land ride. We got unclose to the plants and could take more time to see how they are grown. We also got a special taste of some of the plants grown in the greenhouses.
The last stop on the tour was the fish hatchery area, where the kids got to feed a tank of tilapia and see the alligators.
The tour lasted about an hour, ending at this Mickey shaped black peppercorn plant for photos. Definitely worth the time!
