When I last left off, it was with our rough night with a sick little guy. We really weren’t sure what to expect when we woke up Wednesday morning. We had decided we would get up at our scheduled time so that one of us could take G & C to our breakfast reservation and we’d play it by ear with J. As it turned out, he felt fine when we got up. We’re thinking it must have been something he ate or too much excitement rather than a bug, but we decided to just be flexible and if need be, one of us could bring him back to the hotel later.
So we got ready to go in our villain shirts for the day:
Unfortunately before we left, we had to throw ponchos on over our cute shirts. Yes, it was raining quite a bit. We were determined to not let it dampen our spirits (pun intended), and we set out for a royally good breakfast at EPCOT.
This morning we were dining with princesses. This morning was for G. She was very excited! We headed through EPCOT to the Norway pavilion for breakfast at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall.
We had done breakfast with the princess at Cinderella’s Royal Table in Magic Kingdom and really enjoyed it. I had heard from several people that they really prefer Akershus because there is better character interaction, better food, and it’s only one credit on the dining plan.
Food: The food at Akershus is served in two parts. There is a cold buffet of fruits and pastries, followed by a family style serving of eggs, meats and potatoes. None of us were starving – we’d been up with a sicky all night and that really does a number on my stomach. The food here was OK at best. Nothing memorable. Not outstanding. I guess you come here for the characters anyway.
Atmosphere: The theming in here is really good. It really is like a Norwegian banquet hall (or at least what I would imagine it would be like). You meet Belle in the entry when you first arrive and have your picture taken. The rest of the princesses come around to your table.
Service: Unfortunately the service here was not good. We were stuck at a table back in a corner, so that may have been part of the problem. But it took forever to get our drinks, and even longer for food to arrive. The princess interaction was also pretty blah. They seemed super rushed and distracted. The exception was Ariel – she was fabulous. She loved G’s Ursula shirt and really played it up.
Tips: My biggest tip here would be if you are looking for a breakfast with great princess “feel” and character interaction, go to Cinderella’s Royal Table instead of Akershus. We were definitely way more impressed with that one in terms of food, theme, and princesses.
After breakfast, it was time to head out to enjoy the park.
